I sit pondering over our first week here, under a sky full of the most beautiful stars on a hill that overlooks a valley full of twinkling lights that mark villages that stretch out all the way to India. A week into this outreach and I have already fallen in love with the beauty and brokenness that Nepal has to offer......
After over 24 hours of traveling to get to Nepal and 2 quick days in Kathmandu we proceeded to make our way to our first ministry location Daduldura (which is far far west Nepal) and is accessed by a 24 hour bus ride over MULTIPLE mountains on steep windy roads that made the ride the most exciting roller coaster I have ever been on!
The temperature here hovers between 0 - 10 degrees Celsius with no indoor heating (which is quite an adventure in itself) but the beauty here makes the cold more then bearable! The base sits on a plateau on the top of a hill/small mountain and overlooks a valley full of completely unreached villages (with Indian mountains in the far distance in one direction, and the mountains that separate Nepal and China in another). To say that it is beautiful here would be a HUGE understatement!
As far as ministry goes, most of our first week has been full of travel, but we have still been able to see amazing things happen! Friday afternoon we loaded up in the back of two trucks and drove out to a remote village with a local Christian Doctor to help with a medical camp on a windy dirt/mud road that made the drive to Daduldura seem like nothing.
Over the two and a half days we were there we got to help administer medication to 130 people who don't have easy access to a doctor, share the gospel with the 130 along with 130 school kids (most of who had NEVER heard the name of Jesus before, and also witness 5 healings. It was such an amazing, humbling privilege to get to be the ones sharing Jesus with those who had never heard his name before, and I pray the seeds that were planted would continue to grow!
So that has been our first week!! Everyone's doing great and really stepping into what God has for us!!
I greatly appreciate all of your prayers,
